The 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Jack had an exceptional performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, helping Team USA clinch their first gold medal of the Games in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, where Jack swam a strong first leg. Next followed Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, and Caeleb Dressel, who finished with a time of 3:09.28. Jack added to the medal total by earning a silver medal in the men’s 4x100 medley relay.

From NJ to CA to Paris

John ("Jack") Alexy is an American swimmer renowned for his prowess in freestyle events, making waves and breaking records in both individual and relay events. Born in Morristown, NJ, Jack grew up in a family with a strong athletic background – his mother, Lynn, played guard for Notre Dame Women’s Basketball in the 1980s, his grandfather, Bill, was a Detroit Piston, and all three of his siblings compete in swimming. From a young age, Jack showed promise in swimming. Guided by his childhood coach, Doris Schieppe, their straightforward relationship was crucial in shaping his early career. Schieppe’s coaching style emphasized discipline and hard work, qualities Jack continues to embrace wholeheartedly.

Currently a senior at UC Berkeley Jack hopes to utilize his studies in Economics to explore careers in business, architecture, and real estate. Outside the pool he enjoys playing the guitar and creating art in his free time. For now, Jack continues to hone his talent on the national and world stage as he looks toward making a stand at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
High School Career at Delbarton

Jack attended Delbarton School in Morristown, NJ where he became a three-time high school state champion and a three-time Morris County champion. In 2018 and 2019, Jack won back-to-back Junior National Championships in the 100m Free.

College Career at UC Berkeley

Jack is a proud Golden Bear.  Under the guidance of head coach Dave Durden & his excellent staff, Jack is a key contributor to the swimming program’s dominance in the NCAA. Jack Alexy has claimed two NCAA team championships (2022, 2023), national runner up (2024), and accumulated more than a dozen All-American honors. Jack holds Cal Men's Swimming records in the 100yd & 200yd freestyle as well as the school record in both the 50M & 100M long-course freestyle. As a pivotal part Cal Swimming relay-teams,  he contributed to school records in the 4X50yd and 4X100yd freestyle relays along with the 4x100yd medley relay as well as an NCAA record in the 4x200yd relay.

National Performances
In 2023, Jack triumphed in the 100m Free at the Phillips 66 National Championships, picking up his first gold medal at the national level. With a stellar performance in the 50m Free, Jack earned a silver medal and left the meet qualifying for the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.
INTERnational Performances
Jack debuted on Team USA at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan – leaving the competition with five medals. Swimming the anchor leg of the 4x100m Medley Relay, Jack and his team claimed gold, while Jack brought home an additional three silvers and a bronze in both individual and relay events.

Competing against some of the best swimmers in the world, he proved his mettle and established himself as a rising star on the global stage.

As result Jack was voted USA Swimming's Breakout Swimmer of the Year.
